Chinese government silences its bloggers a little more

Not all bloggers in the world have the same freedom in their field of publication.

The Chinese government intends to silence bloggers who are not aligned with the party's ideas. Under penaltya stay in prison for 15 days see for fine near the 15.000$.

This is crazy.

Who are the bloggers targeted by this bill?

In fact, any blogger commenting or critical the policy of the country may be reprimanded.

According to the bill, it is primarily about "preserving the interests of the country and ensuring its security".

There is therefore no question for anyone to present a pragmatic view of the situation in the country and hope to share it with as many people as possible.

After all, no one ever said that China was a very democratic country.

In concrete terms, how do they plan to take it?

With a bunch of boring new measures.

First, the State would give itself the right to supervise any person whom it would designate as criminal. And since we know they don't need much... They may have a well-filled database.

Next, anyone who wants to use the internet should be able to formally identify.

No one, or even companies, can sell SIM cards. These cards will, if the bill passes, be associated with the buyer's identity card. The Chinese State will therefore be able to follow the activity of the SIM holder without any problems.

The State may, if it so wishes, block any publication to the outside world of China.

Obviously, no one will have the right to help other people (outside China, I guess?) publish content blocked by the state.

But that's not all. I was mouthless when I read this:

"Another regulation was published on 22 January to further restrict press freedom. [...] These regulations require all bloggers who publish or write news to apply for a license from the Cyberspace Administration. "

Can you imagine? Must apply for a license to be able to publish "freely" (this is relative in China) on your blog?

And without surprise, publishing without this license is exposing itself to prosecution or even imprisonment.

I wholeheartedly support my fellow bloggers from the middle empire. It's not gonna be easy for them.

In the end, we're not that bad in France.
