7 mistakes to avoid for blog articles

The 7 mistakes to avoid when writing a blog article

Here I am to write these lines, while I was thrown body and soul in the writing of a post revealing you the 7 major stages an article that will finally make you rich and famous.

Maybe I'm a little abused, but maybe I'm not. 😀

As I was trying to create an introduction that would make you feel curious, I realized one thing.

There is no point in presenting these 7 steps without talking to you about errors which may nullify the potential of your publications.

For indeed, you will have the best tips of the universe, if your contents present the mistakes that I will list you, no hope to pierce. None.

And as I have a lot to say about it, it would have been difficult to settle for a chapter.

Let's start without further delay with the first one.

1- Don't properly structure your article

Not everyone agrees on what the « better » structure of a blog article.

Some are convinced that a blog article must be devoid of anything that can disrupt our visitors' reading.

As I do, I am not against the use of a sidebar when it is correctly done.

Anyway, I've made you a little infographic of my vision of the perfect blog article structure.

Don't hesitate to tell me what you think in the comments. I think it might be interesting to debate this.

Know that I greatly deepen this structure in my training « Write a blog article that Cartonnes », soon available.

2- Don't pay attention to its sources

This is a mistake that can be expensive.

To quote its sources is indeed a good thing.

But be careful not to mention any source. You will quickly become a fool if you ever start quoting questionable sources – see conspiracy For example.

Prefer official sources, case studies of competent people and try to get information about test and study protocols.

Credibility is built slowly and requires a lot of work... It takes a lot less to lose her.

I give you an example:

I run a political blog on which I publish articles on current and often taboo topics. Overall, I publish the fruit of my understandings (and this is not easy).

One day, a topic was a lot of talk and I was told it would be a good idea to publish an article on the subject.

Except when I wanted to go back to the source of the debate, I realized that everything was based on a fake news.

So this saved me a few days of writing, research and, at the same time, preserving my credibility.

Check your sources when it comes to serious subjects.

3- Breaking down your introductions, so they don't make you want to read more

The introduction, with the title of your article, is one of the most important elements when it comes to bringing in and keeping your readers.

At least if it creates enough interest in your readers' hearts.

How to create a good introduction?

There are lots of plans. Here is the one that I mainly use:

  1. Clearly define the purpose of your article.
  2. Explain your reader's problem.
  3. List some consequences of this problem.
  4. Unveil that you found how to solve it.
  5. And start right away.

It works very well.

He is not the only one, but, know that if you master this plan, no doubt you will know how to keep your readers. Hope your content follows, of course.

4- Do not have the appropriate writing style

It's a topic that we talk about relatively rarely I find.

The tone, the way to write and explain things is not to be taken lightly.

Take the example of my personal blog (adrienbur.fr).

I publish articles on lifestyle, SEO (a little) and independent life (from time to time).

My target is young people my age. At least for lifestyle and freelancing.

Of these facts, I naturally silence my readers and, I can afford to use a fairly familiar tone.

Outcome: It works great.. People who discover me often let me know that they appreciate my way of writing. That's nice.

Now let's go back to my political blog.

It would not be customary to use a familiar tone. People who are interested in these subjects are usually looking for serious and pragmatism (at least in my case).

So exit familiar terms, tuts and crude jokes.

Place a somewhat sustained language, well-built sentences and a touch of subtlety when I want to awaken smiles.

The credibility of my writings is at stake.

I think you've understood what I want you to understand. So it's about asking you what writing style is suitable for your audience.

Do not take this aspect of your publications lightly. Work your style and you'll really make a difference.

5- Repeat, fill, and all that bullshit

Personally, that's something I can't stand.

Did you ever tell yourself, when reading a book or article, that the author kept repeating himself? That it was getting boring?

If you read a little, I think you do.

Avoid at any cost this kind of process to artificially lengthen your items.

I know that it is said here and there that it is necessary to create text extensions for search engines, but... Don't fall into this trap if you don't want to run away from your visitors.

6- Do not read again. Aie aie aie...

We were told all our schooling. It's really the base.

And I have to lean on it. Reading our articles is essential.

Again, we must safeguard our credibility, but also respect our readers.

No one likes to read a text that gives the impression of having been sloppy.

If I'm talking about it, it's just that last week I ran into a sales page full of typing mistakes. I really didn't think it was serious.

Neither do your readers. Trust me. No one will treat you favorably.

7- And the worst of all: writing for nothing

I think it's the worst of all.

Write for days to achieve no goals.

Let me explain what I mean by that.

If you blog, it is that you normally have a goal you want to achieve with.

This may be:

  • Win money
  • Gaining authority and influence
  • Sell your services
  • Share your opinion, exchange with others

Whatever.

If you just write to write, without ever putting in place strategies to encourage your users to do something on your site, you may never have any results.

So, before each publication, ask yourself the following questions: What will this publication bring? Will she bring me visitors? Sales? Enrolment? Will she help my readers?

If you actually doubt the usefulness of your article, then ask yourself: What can I do to make this article consistent with my objectives?

And it can go through a lot of things.

A dumb example, which affects a lot of new bloggers:

Write in your corner.

You write good articles, but you are not read.

What can you do to make this change?

Promote them. There are many solutions for this:

  • Advertising Google, Facebook and Pinterest
  • The SEO (requires time)
  • Autopromo on Facebook groups related to your theme (attention not to be drunk)
  • Guest articles other bloggers in your topic

Anyway. Don't write for nothing.

Make sure you make yourself known.

Conclusion

To conclude quickly, here is a list of 7 errors to remember and never make for your publications:

  1. Do not properly structure its article
  2. Neglecting His Sources
  3. Bâcling its introductions and titles
  4. Do not use writing style and tone
  5. Fill your text to artificially lengthen it
  6. Do not read again
  7. Write for nothing, in his corner, hoping that one day success will come to us (which will not happen)
